Can You Still Claim Your Etsy Shop on Pinterest? (2026)

Delzonic

Short answer: No, you can't claim your Etsy shop on Pinterest anymore. As of October 2026, Pinterest's help center says claiming requires owning the domain and editing its source code, so you are "unable to claim" stores hosted on marketplaces like Etsy, eBay and Amazon. You don't need to: Etsy listings already get product details on Pinterest without any setup, so use a business account and pin your listing URLs directly.

Can you still claim your Etsy shop on Pinterest in 2026?

No. We checked Pinterest's own help center in October 2026. The article on claiming a website says you must own the domain, subdomain or subpath and be able to edit the source code. It then names Etsy, eBay and Amazon as marketplaces whose stores you can't claim. Your shop lives on etsy.com, a domain you don't control, so there is nothing to verify.

There is no separate Etsy option either. The settings page Pinterest now calls Link to Pinterest offers website claiming and, in some countries, linking an Instagram professional account. Etsy is not on it.

Why do guides say different things?

Because the answer changed and many guides never updated. Here is how it played out, based on Pinterest's help center and the Pinterest Business Community:

Period What sellers saw Source
Earlier years A Claim section in settings with buttons for Etsy, Instagram and YouTube Older marketing guides and news coverage
2022 Sellers report the Etsy option is missing or throws an error Pinterest Business Community threads
March 2022 A Pinterest community manager replies that this is "expected behavior" and the feature "is in development" Pinterest Business Community
Since then Community moderators tell sellers that claiming Etsy is not possible Pinterest Business Community
October 2026 Help center says marketplace stores like Etsy can't be claimed Pinterest help center, "claim your website" article

So if a guide tells you to open settings, find Claimed accounts and click Claim next to Etsy, it is describing a version of Pinterest that no longer exists. We found no sign the "in development" feature ever came back.

What "claimed accounts" on Pinterest means now

Pinterest still uses the words "claim" and "Claimed accounts," which is part of the confusion. Today they cover:

  • Websites you own. You verify ownership with an HTML tag, an HTML file on your server, a DNS TXT record, or Google Merchant Center (only for some accounts). Pinterest says DNS changes can take up to 72 hours.
  • Instagram professional accounts. Linking one can turn your Instagram posts into pins automatically. Pinterest notes this isn't available in every country.

Neither of these helps an Etsy-only shop. Etsy is not a website you own, and it is not a social account Pinterest can link to.

Once you claim a site, Pinterest lists it under Settings, then Claimed accounts, in the Websites section, where you can also unclaim it. A website can only be claimed by one Pinterest account.

What claiming would have given you

When a claimed website's image is saved, Pinterest shows your profile picture on the pin, links the pin to your profile and offers a follow button. You also get insight into how often content from your site is shared. Useful, but not essential for selling Etsy listings.

Do Etsy listings still get rich pins?

Yes, and this is the part most guides miss. Pinterest's rich pins article says you do not need to add any markup if your site is hosted by Etsy, Teachers Pay Teachers or eBay. New pins from those sites show product information within 24 hours.

Product rich pins show the current price, availability, product title and description from the listing. Pinterest only shows that information when the item is in stock, the price is accurate, the data was recently updated and you meet its merchant guidelines. Product pins can also earn "Best seller" or "Popular" badges based on purchase or click activity.

In other words, etsy rich pins work without claiming anything. Save a listing URL and Pinterest pulls the product details itself.

Feature Etsy listing pins (no claim) Claimed own website
Product details (price, availability, title) Yes, automatic Yes, with markup on your pages
Analytics on pins you create Yes, with a business account Yes
Credit when others save your images No Yes, profile picture and follow button on the pin
Stats on all content saved from your domain No Yes
Setup needed None Domain verification

How to connect Etsy to Pinterest without claiming

You can't claim the shop, but you can link Etsy to Pinterest in every way that matters for sales.

  1. Switch to a free business account. You get analytics on your pins and access to Pinterest's business tools. Here is how to set up a Pinterest business account step by step.
  2. Add your Etsy shop URL to your profile. Go to Settings, then Edit profile, and put the shop link under Website. Pinterest's help center describes this as adding a link to your site. It is a link, not a claim, but people who visit your profile can find your shop.
  3. Use your Etsy shop name as your Pinterest name. Business accounts show a business name. Matching it to your shop makes you easy to find in both places.
  4. Pin listing URLs, not your shop page. Every pin should link to the exact listing it shows. That is what triggers the product details and what sends buyers straight to checkout. You can share a listing to Pinterest from Etsy itself, or create a pin on Pinterest, upload a listing photo and paste the listing URL as the destination link. The second way lets you write your own keyword-rich title and description instead of whatever Pinterest pulls in.
  5. Organise boards by product type or occasion. Name them the way people search, like "personalized wedding signs," not "My shop."

If pinning each listing by hand is the bottleneck, Pinsevo can turn your Etsy shop link into Pinterest pins that link to each listing. You paste a shop or listing link, no Etsy login needed, approve the pins, and it posts them on your schedule.

Pro tip

If a pin starts showing an item as sold out when it is back in stock, Pinterest may be holding stale data. Sellers in the Pinterest Business Community fixed this by deleting the pin and saving the listing URL again.

Should you get your own domain just to claim it?

Only if you already run, or plan to run, your own site. If you sell on Shopify, WordPress or another platform you control alongside Etsy, claim that site, because you own it and can verify it. Buying a domain only to claim it gives you attribution on saves of your images, but your Etsy listings still live on etsy.com, so pins to those listings won't be credited to the domain anyway.

For most Etsy-only sellers, the honest answer is to skip claiming entirely and spend that time on more and better pins. If you are weighing how to automate that part, we compare options in how to auto-post Etsy listings to Pinterest.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no Etsy option in my Pinterest settings?

Because Pinterest removed it. Its help center now says marketplace stores like Etsy can't be claimed, since you don't own the etsy.com domain.

Do I need to enable rich pins for Etsy?

No. Pinterest says no markup is needed for sites hosted by Etsy. Pins of Etsy listings pick up product details within about 24 hours.

Can I claim my Etsy shop if I use a custom domain?

Pinterest's rule is that you must own the domain and be able to edit its source code. If you can't add a tag, file or DNS record to the site, you can't claim it.

Does not claiming Etsy hurt my pins in Pinterest search?

Pinterest doesn't say claiming affects ranking. Your pins rank on their keywords, images and engagement. Claiming mainly adds attribution and analytics for content saved from your domain.

Is linking my Etsy shop to Pinterest the same as claiming it?

No. Adding the shop URL to your profile is just a link. Claiming is domain verification, which isn't available for Etsy shops.
